In 2022 it finally takes place again: Freifunk is supporting BattleMesh again this year. After the Wireless Community Weekend in Weimar, this is the second event this year that deals with mesh networks.
The “Wireless Battle of the Mesh” is an event that aims to bring together people from across the globe to test the performance of different routing protocols for ad-hoc networks.
From May 7 to 13 the Wireless Community Weekend will mesh up with the Battlemesh at the c-base in Berlin. Read how to participate and how you can support the event.
Over the next weeks there will be two great opportunities to meet wireless communities and Freifunker from Germany and all over the world. Don’t miss the chance to build networks outside of your own community.

Using the a Freifunk network enables refugees to contact their family at no charge, they can inform themselves about their new home and have access to local information as well to information from their home country.
In 2014, Freifunk participated in the Google Summer of Code. We were given 9 “slots“ this year, for projects awarded to students in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Slovenia.
