Ideas for wireless communication gadgets that might come in particularly handy at the time of a disaster
Ideas 1-3 from Arun Mehta, further ideas most welcome!
- A cheap location finder for mobile phones, to detect phones and thus their users in collapsed buildings
- Even better, a device that allows reception of voice transmission from nearby mobile phones even when the switches and towers of the telecom company have been destroyed
- A low-power FM transmitter with mike in a robust housing, that switches on when given a severe bump, e.g. when the roof falls on it, so that the cries of help of the people trapped in its vicinity can be picked up on a nearby FM radio.
