but rather than having to point at a water tower can't v have something thats kept along with the receiver ...so that once a bar code is scanned and the send button is pressed..the receiver sends the signal without the farmer being intervened..

Im not sure whether the above thing works ..n im totally novice in this area...but my heart is to do projects on Wireless technologies..

To which Arun replies:

The device in the hand of the farmer is the transmitter, on the top of the water tower of the village is, you might say, a relay station, one which converts information flowing in, to audio, which is now transmitted as an FM signal that the whole village, including the farmer himself, can pick up on an ordinary FM radio, the kind costing one dollar.

The whole idea of telecommunications, is to have a separation, large if possible, between transmitter, (relay stations) and receiver.

The other point about automation: you need a Send button, because the farmer is allowed to scan many words to build a sentence. Without the "Send" button, how does the device know that the message is complete, or the farmer still thinking?
